Shoe drive at Wilmot Union High School

The Wilmot Union High School Key Club is collecting gently-used shoes in a new fundraising effort, courtesy of an organization called “Fund2org.”

“Funds2org is a group that collects gently-used shoes so they can be put to better use in third world and developing nations,” stated in a WUHS press release.

Based on the number of shoes and their weight, the Key Club receives $.40 per pound, with the shoes sent to other nations in need, and are used as business tools and donations.

“We in turn, are hoping to raise $1,000,” the release stated, noting the Key Club’s goal of providing service and assistance to the community.

The Key Club fundraiser accepts almost any shoes with exception to ice skates and roller blades.

There are three drop-off locations, outside the school’s main office and inside the east and northeast entrances of the building, located at 11112 308th Ave, Wilmot.

Donations are accepted until the conclusion of the school-year.
