A Panther duo finished second in Saturday’s Browns Lake Ryder Cup, one stroke over par, to help Wilmot Union High School take second overall among 11 schools.

Cody Faber and Zach Strasser collectively shot a 73, three strokes more than the Union Grove tandem of Eric Chambers and Sam Maier.

As a team, Wilmot finished with a score of 244, 11 strokes shy of catching the first-place Broncos.

Meanwhile, for Westosha Central, Zack Kramer and Shawn Meyers placed fifth, a stroke behind two pairs of teams that went into a tiebreaker for third place.

Placing fourth was Union Grove’s Ben Maier and Justin Schuster, who defeated Burlington’s Justin Meseberg and Danny Capozzi in a tiebreaker, when they each had a 77.

Waterford’s James Maney and Jake Decamp earned the Wolverines’ best score with a 81.

A deep squadron of golfers resulted in the Broncos’ win Saturday, according to Sam Maier.

“We have a lot of depth,” said Sam Maier. “It’s the best team we’ve had in awhile. There’s a lot of experience.”

However, the Broncos have another challenge, the Southern Lakes Conference meet in Twin Lakes Wednesday, the home course of Faber and Strasser.

The Westosha Report and mykenoshacounty.com will have updates from Twin Lakes Wednesday.
