Circuit Court Judge places hold on offender placement

breakingnewsAccording to Wheatland Town Attorney Todd Terry, Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge David Bastianelli granted a temporary restraining order against the Department of Health Services and Lagoda Property Management LLC, from placing two registered sex offenders at a Town of Wheatland residence where a child lives next door.

However, Terry stated after Tuesday’s motion hearing that there are more hurdles to clear, including a 10 a.m. Wednesday motion hearing in Racine County Circuit Court regarding one of the two offenders, Michael McGee.

“Tomorrow will be really telling in Racine County,” said Terry, adding the restraining order in Kenosha County will be reviewed next week.

Robert and Michael McGee, no relation, of Milwaukee and Racine counties, respectively, were ordered released from Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center in Mauston on Department of Health Services recommendations by May 20.

Robert McGee, 55, had been convicted in 1989 of first-degree sexual assault in Milwaukee.

Michael McGee, 53, had been originally convicted in Racine County of one count second-degree assault and a count of burglary in 1987.
