Food for fines at Kenosha County libraries

By Gail Peckler-Dziki

The Community Library has joined ranks with the Kenosha Public Library in an effort to get library materials back into the building and help local food pantries.

From Monday, May 23 to May 28 at both Community Library branches (Salem, 24615 89th St., and Twin Lakes, 10 S. Lake Avenue) and May 29 at two Kenosha locations (Northside, 1500 27th Ave. and Southwest, 7979 38th Ave.) bring in overdue items and for every non-perishable food item you bring in, $1 of the fine will disappear.

Items can be returned to the Twin Lakes or Salem branch of the Community Library or the Southwest, Northside, Simmons or Uptown branches. The bookmobile is not part of this offer.

The food items must have a printed barcode and be non-expired. There is no limit to the number of donations per person.

This offer applies only to overdue items. Replacement or damage fees are not included.
