Build your own bird feeder at Pringle

Count – Build Your Own Feeder from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11.

The weekend before the Great Backyard Bird Count build your own feeder to attract birds to your backyard to count.

A short ID session will be offered on how to report data to the count, as well as choosing between the different types of birdseed. Supplies are limited. Pre-registration and payment required, no refunds for no shows. Bring your own hammer. Feeder kit price: General Public: $12.00

Valentine’s Snowshoe Candlelight Hike from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m on Saturday, Feb. 11. Enjoy the winter wonderland at night with family, friends, and loved ones while on the candlelit trail at Bristol Woods County Park. Warm up afterward by the crackling fire. Refreshments will be served inside the Nature Center.

In order to use the snowshoes, there must be enough snow on the ground. Come and leave when you like. General Public: $5

Great Backyard Bird Count – Feeder Count from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 18.

If you live in an area where there are not a lot of birds and would like to participate, you can come to Pringle and help count the birds that come to our feeders. For more information on the count and how you can participate, go to the Great Backyard Bird Count’s website. No experience is necessary. Free admission.

 

Teacher Naturalist Volunteer Training from Wednesday, Feb. 22 to Friday, Feb. 24.

Are you interested in nature and would love to share that curiosity and enthusiasm with the next generation? Pringle Nature Center depends on volunteers to help teach programs and is offering training sessions for the classes we offer to school groups. Come for some or all of the sessions.

To see the classes offered to school groups, visit the website. Wednesday, kindergarten, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; first grade, 1 to 2 p.m. p.m.; Thursday, second grade, 10 to 11:30 a.m.; third grade, 1 to 2:30 p.m.; Friday, fourth grade, 10 to 11:30 a.m.; fifth grade, 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Naturalist on Location, at Petrifying Springs Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25. Join the Pringle Naturalist out at Pets Park.

If you haven’t been out to Pringle and keep meaning to, this will be your chance to meet the naturalist and see what programs are offered at the Nature Center. There will be two guided hike at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

If there is enough snow on the ground, snowshoes will be used. Concessions available. Meet at the residence located on the north side of Highway JR across from the cross-country course and on the park’s eastern boundary/UW-Parkside’s western side. General public fee is $5.
