Authorities believe it is 49-year-old Wheatland man

Kenosha County authorities are investigating the death of a 49-year-old man found in the water along the Lily Lake shoreline in the Town of Wheatland Saturday.

The man, presumably 49-year-old Richard L. Warnke Sr.., according to a Sheriff’s Department press release, was discovered by a local resident before 1:30 p.m. near the 7700 block of 334th Avenue.

“Although positive identification has not yet been made, it appears that the deceased was a 49- year individual named Richard L. Warnke Sr.,” the release stated.

Warnke had been reported as endangered/missing earlier in the week following a domestic dispute at a residence in the 7800 block of 336th Avenue, that required Kenosha County deputies to respond, the press release said.

The release did not state whether foul play attributed to the death.

“This investigation continues with positive identification of the victim is pending further tests,” the release stated. “Medical examiner reports and officer reports are pending.”

However, the victim’s family was notified, the release said.
