Kenosha Community Foundation awards four scholarships to area students

Four Kenosha County students, including two from Wilmot Union High School for the first time, were awarded Kenosha Community Foundation scholarships, in an announcement made by the Board of Directors.

The Herman and Virginia Gundlach scholarship valued at $3,000 was awarded to eight total students of the 19 that applied, according to a press release, and students must attend a Wisconsin college or university.

Receiving the scholarship from Wilmot Union High School are Mackenzie Bailey, who plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point along with eventual Carroll University student Jennifer Fasnacht.

“This is the first time students from Wilmot Union High School received Gundlach Scholarships,” the release said.

Westosha Central High School students awarded the scholarship were Tanika Johnson and Angel Spencer. Johnson expects to attend UW-Platteville while Spencer plans to enroll at UW-Milwaukee.

Since 2007, the Kenosha Community Foundation has awarded 94 Gundlach scholarships, totaling over $142,000 to Kenosha County students.

The Kenosha Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization launched by local businesses and families in 1926.
