ALL-STATE SOFTBALL: Westosha Central with 3 honorees, Lady Panthers have 2

Central’s Konwent, Onstad, Hrncar first-team selections; Lady Panthers’ Koehn on second team and Regnier honorable mention

The Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association released its annual all-state team, with three first-team honors for Westosha Central High School and a second-team acknowledgment along with honorable mention at Wilmot Union High School.

Achieving first-team all-state honors for the Lady Falcons were senior catcher Kayla Konwent, senior third baseman Chy Onstad and junior pitcher Alyssa Hrncar.

For the Lady Panthers, junior shortstop Kalyssa Koehn earned a second-team honor while junior first baseman Riley Regnier was named honorable mention.

Onstad, who hit .475, collected a team-leading 11 doubles, eight home runs and 42 runs for the Lady Falcons, knocked in 35 runs, second to junior Kira Mickelson, who had 39.

Konwent, meanwhile, walked a whopping 48 times in 105 plate appearances, but still belted six home runs with 32 RBIs and had six doubles.

The catcher hit .509 for the season.

Opposing pitchers only struck out Onstad three times while Konwent had two.

Hrncar produced 12 shutouts in 22 appearances accumulating an 18-3 record through 116 1/3 innings.

Additionally, she also allowed 19 earned runs for an ERA of 1.14, struck out 148 hitters and walked 18.

 

At the plate, Hrncar hit .448 with 29 runs scored, collected two triples and had 20 RBI as the leadoff hitter.

For Wilmot, Koehn and Regnier were the doubles leaders, with Koehn collecting 11 while Regnier had 14.

In addition, Koehn had a team-leading 38 runs, three triples and 36 RBI, hit four home runs, batted .495 and her eight stolen bases were second to senior Sam Schloegl, who had 12.

The shortstop struck out three times in 97 at bats.

Regnier finished her junior season tied with Hayli Richards for the team-lead in home runs with six, added two triples, drove in 34 runs and batted .489.

Other key Southern Lakes Conference performers on the list were Delavan-Darien senior Jennah Speth, named Division 2 Player of the Year, in addition to first-team honors.

Speth’s teammate, junior outfielder Morgyn DeLara received honorable mention.

Union Grove added two on the first-team, senior pitcher Brittany Moore and senior infielder Claire Ryan.

The Lady Broncos had second-team acknowledgments from junior Kallista Hribar at catcher and senior infielder Alyssa McClelland

Rounding out SLC notables was senior Talyn Lewis of Burlington, who received honorable mention.
