Falcons junior Garrett Gilbert was named second-team all-South East District of the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association, in a June 16 announcement made by the organization.

Gilbert, the lone player from Westosha Central High School, already has garnered accolades at the Southern Lakes Conference level, where he received first-team honors.

Earlier in the season, Gilbert was added to the Prep Showcase Roster, comprised of 20 players in Wisconsin, according to Prep Baseball Report.

Through 26 games, Gilbert pounded out 33 hits in 83 at bats, producing a .398 batting average, according to MaxPreps.com.

Of those 33 hits, the junior racked up 12 multi-hit games, including 3-hit performances against Burlington April 12, where he knocked in four runs and collected a double, and a 3 for 4 game against Shoreland Lutheran on May 21.

Gilbert, who drew 15 walks, had a .495 on base percentage and demonstrated an ability to drive in runs.

At Hartford May 7, Gilbert batted 2 for 3 with a home run and 3 RBI in the Falcons 11-5 Game 1 victory of a doubleheader.

In the May 13 Southern Lakes Conference tilt against Wilmot, Gilbert contributed a season-high 5 RBI in a 2 for 4 performance, belted a home run and scored twice in a 12-8 route.

Against Delavan-Darien May 16, he hit his second home run in two games, batting 2 for 4, helping the Falcons to a 7-1 victory.

In addition to five home runs, Gilbert collected nine doubles and legged out three triples.

Meanwhile, the district selected Kenosha Indian Trail senior Gavin Lux, drafted in the first round by the Los Angeles Dodgers, as the Division 1 Player of the Year.

Fresh off their Division 1 WIAA state title, Burlington had three players on the first team, pitcher Jacob Lindemann, infielder Bryan Sturdevant and outfielder Aaron Mutter.
