Salem voters will have busy primary Feb. 21

Town of Salem voters will be asked to vote for two out of a field of five candidates who are running for a two year term on the Town of Salem Board during next Tuesdays spring primary election.

Of the five candidates who filed nomination papers, two the positions presently held by incumbents Dennis Faber and Patrick O’Connell. Of the incumbents, only Faber has filed papers for this year’s elections. After serving nine years on the town board, O’Connell has chosen not to run again.

Joining Faber in the Tuesday, Feb. 21 spring primary are Mike Culat, Gail Peckler-Dziki, planning and zoning board member Wes Dumalski and WGTD radio personality Steve Brown.

Also during the Feb. 21 primary, a special election will be held to fill the seat vacated by the death of Joseph Meier.

Supervisor Ted Kmiec, who is currently filling the seat on an interim basis, will be up against Jim Walker and Peckler-Dziki. Peckler-Dziki will appear on both primary ballots. Voters will be asked to vote for one candidate.

Two local school boards will also be holding primary elections.

• Brighton School District No. 1 has three candidates for school board: Matthew Ellerbrock, Linda L. Perona and Judy L. Uhlenhake. Voters will be asked to chose one.

• Salem School, 8828 Antioch Road, has four candidates running for school board: Peggy Aull, Kirsten Ruzicki Kim MacLeod, Jack Niccolai and Ryan Buchberger, Voters will be asked to vote for two.

• City of Kenosha Mayor has four candidates for mayor: Jeff Baas, Nasser Museitif, incumbent Keith G. Bosman and Jesse Downing. Voters will be asked to vote for one.

• On the state level voters will be asked to vote for one candidate in the race for Circuit Court Judge – Branch 2. Candidates are: incumbent Jason A. Rossell, David Ernest Celebre, David R. Berman, William Michel and Edward Richard Antaramian.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

• Upcoming elections: The presidential primary election will be held April 3. The state primary is Aug. 14 and the general election is Nov. 6.
