Two people are dead following a fiery crash that involved several motorcycles and a pickup truck in Fox Lake, Ill. Saturday, according to a village fire official.

Fox Lake Fire Commander Brent Connolly stated his department was called to the scene near the 6800 block of State Park Road, near Vacation Village, at about 3:10 p.m. for a motor vehicle accident, but upon departure, he learned it involved several motorcycles and the pickup truck.

“By the time we got out of the station, within a minute or so, a dispatcher told us there were multiple motorcycles and a pickup truck,” Connelly said.

When the Fox Lake Fire Department, along with several other agencies arrived to the scene, they discovered two motorcycles and the pickup truck engulfed in flames, a police department press release reported.

“The pickup truck drove into the northbound lanes striking two motorcycles,” the release said. “One motorcycle driver laid his bike down on the pavement to avoid the accident.”

Passing motorists stopped to help, pulling victims from the accident scene. In situations like these, these motorbike accident lawyers and others like them are always valuable. With so many injured, it’s likely the investigation into the cause will continue for weeks.

However, the driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene, and later, a motorcyclist at Centegra Hospital in McHenry, Connelly said.

Additionally, a female motorcyclist is in serious condition at an area hospital and four others have minor injuries, according to Connelly.

Assisting Fox Lake Police and Fire were Lake and McHenry County Sheriff’s Departments, Spring Grove Police, and EMS officials from Antioch, Spring Grove and Lake Villa.

The accident caused the closure of State Park Road near Highway 12 for nearly six hours, the release added.

Identities of all victims were not released pending notification of family members.

“The accident is being investigated by the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, which was called to the scene,” the release noted. The truck may not have had fleet tracking software installed (https://www.lytx.com/en-us/fleet-management/fleet-tracking-service) to help with driver safety, hopefully, this will be equipped in vehicles to prevent accidents in the future.
