After weather scratched three shows on opening night, Country Thunder went as scheduled Friday, as spectators battled persistent heat.

According to the National Weather Service, the reported high heat index registered in at 99 degrees on two occasions Friday.

Following the performances of Bryan White, Haley Georgia, The Bellamy Brothers and The Cadillac Three, Parmalee took to the stage.

Parmalee, on tour all summer, returned to Country Thunder for the third straight year.

According to Josh McSwain, the stop to Twin Lakes gives the band an opportunity to rest, after traveling from Nashville.

“It’s been busy, we’ve been touring our butts off, and just glad to be here,” he said.

After Country Thunder, the group ventures to Indianapolis Saturday followed by an appearance at the Rock County Fair in Janesville on July 28.

McSwain said fan reception at every stop is a key motivator.

“Our fans are our inspiration, and we want to continue to tour and play for our fans,” he said.

Florida Georgia Line headlined Friday’s lineup, performing until 11:30 p.m.

On Patrol
A few top officials with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, including David Beth, made the rounds at the Country Thunder site Friday.

Beth, along with other officials, were seen patrolling the campgrounds during the evening.
