Kehoe among eight to attend Gateway seminar

Jeff Kehoe, a Wilmot Union High School teacher, was among a group of eight instructors from area school districts to receive training to become Snap-On certified technicians at a July 15 workshop.

The workshop, hosted by Gateway Technical College, gives teachers the skills needed to help students pursuing careers in technical fields, according to a news release.

“(It) will help them provide training to their students to successfully enter their chosen career or college program,” the release stated.

Kehoe and the other seven teachers received guidance from college instructors, known as a “train-the-trainer” event held at the school’s Horizon Center for Transportation Technology on the Kenosha campus.

As part of the program, all eight teachers earned national certification on the Snap-on MODIS integrated diagnostic system and lab scope, and a gift to bring directly into the classroom.

“Gateway donated an updated 2016 MODIS tool to each of the schools with staff members participating in the workshop so the technical knowledge gained can be used immediately in the classroom,” the release stated.

This opportunity was made possible by the strong partnership Gateway has created with Snap-on Incorporated though NC3-National Coalition of Certification Centers.

Other teachers involved were Nick Baldwin, Union Grove; Dan Meyer, Racine Case; Aaron Troxell, Waterford; Casey Cushman, Kenosha Bradford; Tom Sheeley, Lake Geneva Badger; Mike Wintz, Whitewater and Matt Kerhin, West Allis Central.
