Officials from at least eight fire departments responded to a residential home fire in Twin Lakes Wednesday afternoon, and according to preliminary reports, the elderly homeowners were not home at the time.
However, it is not known whether both cats made it out safely, according to Capt. Dennis Linn of the Twin Lakes Police Department.
The fire in the 1700 block of Sunset Drive sparked warning sirens throughout the Village of Twin Lakes at about 12:15 p.m.
The warning siren lasted substantially longer than the daily noon siren.
According to Linn, when the couple came home, they discovered the home fully engulfed.
Furthermore, the man suffered minor wounds to the head when he tried to gain entry into the home.
On scene, there were vehicles from eight different agencies, including three from Illinois.
Responding agencies in Wisconsin were the towns of Wheatland, Randall, Salem and the Village of Twin Lakes.
Bloomfield/Genoa City also responded.
Agencies from Illinois were the towns of Richmond and Spring Grove along with the Village of Wonder Lake.
Also, the Racine Fire Belles came to offer replenishments to firefighters.
The Twin Lakes Report and Westosha Report will have the full story as more information becomes available.
