Wilmot hosts tournament on Saturday
Wilmot Union High School won three of five girls volleyball matches en route to a third place finish at a Sheboygan South tournament Thursday.
After the Lady Panthers beat St. Mary’s Springs (25-18, 25-19), they dropped the next match against Howard’s Grove (25-12, 25-18), but bounced back to win against Brown Deer (25-14, 25-7).
Wilmot rounded out its slate with a loss to host Sheboygan South in three sets (21-25, 25-20, 14-16), following up with a victory against Port Washington (25-23, 25-21).
Senior Lauren Daniels contributed a team-leading 25 kills, along with eight service aces, and 33 digs.
Devin Coleman, a senior setter, compiled 72 assists through all five contests and junior Sara Bedessem had 43 digs in her Lady Panthers debut.
Becca Bell, a junior, accumulated 10 service aces while leading in blocks was senior Laney Videlka with 4.5.
Freshman Karina Leber added 20 kills.
Wilmot hosts a tournament 9 a.m. Saturday, facing off against Lake Geneva Badger, Cudahy, Kenosha Christian Life, Milwaukee School of Languages, Shoreland Lutheran, Stoughton and Beloit Turner.
