Westosha’s McNealy downs Sequoits

An early Westosha Central High School goal was all they needed to defeat visiting Antioch Community High School Monday, when Bobby McNealy found an edge 25 minutes into regulation.

Falcons coach Jon Kao credited his team’s stellar defense, which held on for the shutout victory, including Tevin Pielhau and Scott Hanover.

“We continued to control the first half and then we were in for a storm,” Kao said. “Stout defense from Tevin Pielhau and Scott Hanover held strong and our keeper Chase Erickson had an eventful evening.”

The game that brought a lightning delay to the second half gave the Sequoits time to warm up entering the second half, but the Falcons were able to hold on for their first win against Antioch under Kao’s direction.

“Antioch played with extreme fire but had just enough of an advantage to hang on,” Kao said. “Beating a team we haven’t beaten at all in my tenure in the program is certainly a confidence booster.”

After Monday’s win, the Falcons had an even 3-3-3 record.
