FOOTBALL
Delavan-Darien 38, Westosha Central 6
Senior Austin Kurylo helped Westosha Central avoid a shutout at Delavan-Darien Sept. 30, when he forced a fumble, which he returned 67 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
The Comets, however, put the Falcons in a 31-0 hole entering halftime, courtesy of two Jake Benzing touchdown passes, a Ryan Gengler run and two special teams touchdowns.
Benzing completed 11 of 18 passes for 171 yards with three touchdowns, including one in the fourth quarter to Seth Kirsch, who led all Comets receivers with two catches for 74 yards.
Westosha Central, held to 131 total yards, was led by senior Josiah McDermit’s three completions for 56 yards, 50 to junior Nic Frederick.
The Falcons, who dropped to 1-6 (0-5 Southern Lakes Conference), play their Homecoming contest against cross-town rival Wilmot Oct. 7.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Wilmot Union def. Delavan-Darien, 25-16, 25-22 and 25-19.
Wilmot Union High School broke even in Southern Lakes Conference play, after a sweep of host Delavan-Darien Sept. 27.
The Panthers, who stand 2-2 in the SLC, were lead by junior libero Sara Bedessem’s 13 digs along with senior setter Devin Coleman’s 32 assists.
Offensively, Wilmot received contributions from junior Becca Bell and freshman Karina Leber, who both had seven kills and three blocks apiece. Senior Lauren Daniels added six kills and three aces.

CROSS COUNTRY
Panther boys 8th, girls 12th at Chocolate City
Freshman Tara Nopenz registered a personal best, and Wilmot Union High School cross country record, at the Burlington Chocolate City Invitational Oct. 1.
Nopenz, who finished 25th, recorded a time of 20 minutes, 8 seconds.
But, the Panthers still finished 12th of 12 schools, with Kettle Moraine winning at 57 points.
Contributing for the Panther girls were freshman Barbara Cooper (64, 22:58), senior Samantha Porter (69, 23:21), senior Zoe Glass (71, 23:38) and senior Stephanie Nuccio (72, 23:40).
Behind personal bests from senior Ryan Ott and sophomore Jordan Paulsen, the Panthers finished eighth at the 13-school Burlington Chocolate City Invitational Oct. 1.
