Central’s Patel notches first in Falcon Invite

Wilmot boys take fourth

While senior Sheel Patel produced a top finish at the Falcon Invite, his Westosha Central High School cross country team took sixth among 10 qualifying teams in the Oct. 6 meet held at Fox River Park in Silver Lake.

South Milwaukee won the boys race, accumulating 44 points, 28 points ahead of second place Greendale.

Wilmot Union High School, which finished with 114, came in ahead of Patel’s team.

Patel, who took first with 16 minutes, 54.5 seconds, finished more than four seconds ahead of Greendale’s Job Rohloff.

For the Panthers, they received an eighth place finish by senior Ryan Ott along with 12th from Jordan Paulsen.

Ott, who clocked in at 17:50, finished more than three seconds better than East Troy’s Evan Harding.

Paulsen, meanwhile, edged Falcons Colton Greenhill, who took 13th, by more than four seconds.

Also contributing to the Panthers’ fourth place finish were Alex Wank (29, 18:30.7), Kyle Diedrich (33, 18:36.3) and Shawn Davis (37, 18:50.2).

The Panthers came in one point shy of tying Kenosha Indian Trail for third.

Along with Patel and Greenhill, Westosha Central received points from Mason Hedrick (36, 18:47.9), Trevor Silber (52, 19:19.9) and Jacob Yule (56, 19:32.1).

Capra, Maccaux lead Lady Falcons
For the girls, Westosha Central finished third among 12 schools, courtesy of juniors Meghan Capra and MacKenzie Maccaux.

East Troy won the meet, tabulating 24 points, while Whitnall took second at 82.

While Capra finished 32 seconds behind winner Madison Desing of East Troy, she edged East Troy’s Christina Nolting by 15 seconds.

Maccaux, meanwhile, placed ninth with a time of 21:38.5, four seconds ahead of Whitnall’s Dijana Mitrovic.

Also contributing to the Falcons were senior Lindsey Kimpler (21, 22:23.9), junior Chelsea Lamp (31, 23:05.2) and junior Julia Ziemelis (32, 23:10.4).

Freshman Tara Nopenz, who led all Lady Panthers, finished 13th at 21:49.5, when she outpaced Kenosha Indian Trail’s Molly Balch by 12 seconds.

Receiving points for Wilmot were senior Zoe Glass (36, 23:40.40), senior Samantha Porter (39, 23:44.1), senior Stephanie Nuccio (57, 24:48.7) and sophomore Gretta Cieslak (63, 25:02.2).
