With a career year already established, Wilmot Union High School senior Devin Coleman added another girls volleyball milestone in Saturday’s Shoreland Lutheran tournament, where she eclipsed 1,000 career assists.

Coleman’s tournament high of 31 in the Panthers’ 2-1 victory of Luther Prep (25-23, 22-25, 15-10) was one short of her season best 32 against Lake Geneva Badger on Sept. 20.

Along with both matches, Coleman collected 30 or more assists in two other contests, when she compiled 31 in 3-0 sweeps of Southern Lakes Conference opponents Delavan-Darien (Sept. 27) and Waterford (Oct. 6).

As a junior, Coleman had 316 assists, compared to 503 following the Saturday’s tournament.

Daniels, Bell contribute up front
While Coleman set the tone for the Panthers, who also defeated Union Grove (25-18, 19-25, 15-13) and Pius XI (25-16), senior Lauren Daniels and junior Rebecca Bell reinforced the front row.

Daniels contributed a team-leading 21 kills and added four aces

Bell amassed 18 kills along with three blocks.

Defensively, junior libero Sara Bedessem had 35 digs and Kylee Mullholon dove in for 15 more.

The Panthers’ sole loss came against host Shoreland Lutheran (25-12, 25-21).

Following tournament play, Wilmot improved to 20-12 overall, the program’s best record in at least 10 years.

Since 2007, according to MaxPreps.com, the Panthers won 13 matches in two different seasons, including last year.
