Central disqualified from WIAA Girls Volleyball tourney

breakingnewsWestosha Central High School has been disqualified from the WIAA Division 1 state girls volleyball tournament, according to a source close to the team, which plans to file an appeal Tuesday at the WIAA offices in Stevens Point.

The disqualification was confirmed through school Athletic Director Jonathan Lindh, who reported a scheduling issue, but did not disclose any further information as of 4:30 p.m. Monday.

In a team statement, they plan to appeal the ruling in Stevens Point, adding the squad should not be held accountable.

“The Central Volleyball team is planning a trip to Stevens Point Wisconsin WIAA office tomorrow to appeal a decision that was made today by the WIAA,” the team stated. “We, the student athletes, are filing an appeal because of the decision that was made which was beyond our control, and at no fault of our own.”

Westosha Central, a state-ranked team, received a first round bye as the No. 1 seed in Region 6 and was scheduled to play Saturday.

The Westosha Report will have more on this developing story.
