Central swimmers soar for co-op

Lake Geneva Badger wins 5th straight SLC title

Westosha Central High School played a role in helping the Lake Geneva Badger co-op girls swimming team capture its fifth consecutive Southern Lakes Conference title at Jefferson last weekend.

Badger, a team composed of Wilmot Union High School, Williams Bay, Walworth and Central, won by nearly 200 points.

Two Central swimmers, senior Sarah Verzal and sophomore Eden Wember, earned points in four events.

Eden Wember, who finished third in the 100-yard freestyle, pitched in on two first-place relay teams, the 200- and 400-yard freestyle.

Additionally, Eden Wember picked up seventh in the 50-yard freestyle.

For Verzal, the senior contributed to the winning 200-yard medley relay team, in addition to a third-place finish on the 400-freestyle relay team of Central sophomore Claire Koeppel and Wilmot Union High School junior Lauren Pryor.

Verzal added a fourth in the both the individual 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle relay team of Pryor and Central junior Rylee Kennell.

Meanwhile, for Koeppel, she finished second in the 200-yard freestyle and took third in the 500-yard freestyle.

Kennell, along with Central classmate Elise Wember, took second in the 200-medley relay.

Individually, Kennell notched third in the 100-breaststroke.

Elise Wember finished seventh in the 200 individual medley and sixth in 100-yard fly, ahead of Pryor’s seventh place finish.

Furthermore, Pryor took eighth in the 200 individual medley.

Senior Tessa Jahneke, of Westosha Central, finished fifth in the 500-yard freestyle.
