Maddie Martin became the fifth Wilmot Union High School athlete to sign a National Letter of Intent Wednesday when she formally committed to Division 1 University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she plans to continue her track career.

Martin was last year’s Southern Lakes Conference Athlete of Year as junior where she picked up a handful of accolades including school records and a state track meet appearance.

The future Panther joins a team which finished second of eight schools at the 2016 Horizon League Championships held in Valparaiso, Indiana.

In the classroom, Martin plans to study nursing at UW-Milwaukee.

Previously, Wilmot announced the signings of softball shortstop Kalyssa Koehn, softball outfielder Taylor Danielson, baseball pitcher Troy Hickey and infielder Josh Schattner.
