Randall students helped coordinate conference

Students from Randall Consolidated School attended an annual Middle School Leadership conference Oct. 20 at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where 15 Randall Student Council members coordinated small group activities following leadership training.

The day-long conference, themed “Leadership is action, not position” this year, was open to any Southeast Wisconsin membership school of the Southern Lakes Advanced Learners Network, had 30 schools from the region.

Students began the conference with a presentation by Ardan James, who is a nationally known illusionist and mime, with a focus on “the qualities of a good leader,” according to a statement released by Randall School.

“Following his stage presentation, he led a one-hour workshop where the sixth, seventh and eighth graders had a chance to try out his ideas in a hands-on activity,” the statement said.

In the afternoon, students from all 30 schools were divided into small groups for skill applications, with 15 Randall Student Council students leading these small group activities.
Four Randall students participated in these workshop activities as well.
