But, on Tuesday at Delavan-Darien, the 5-foot-10 Sjong did one point better, scoring 25 points, adding nine rebounds and six steals, to secure a new career-high in the Panthers 72-60 Southern Lakes Conference defeat of the Comets.

Sjong was not the only player to have a career night for the Panthers, adding 5-11 junior forward Morgan Zenon’s double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds to the mix.

Zenon’s 15 point performance is her first double-digit output of her career.

Both Sjong and Zenon produced a 50 percent shooting percentage or better, with Sjong converting 10 of 14 from the field while Sjong buried six of her 12 shots.

On the free throw line, Sjong went four of six and Zenon made three of her five attempts.

Meanwhile, the Panthers, who led 33-24 entering halftime, received a team-leading five assists from 5-6 senior guard Devin Coleman.

Defensively, senior McKenna Stanek along with sophomores Haley Lamberson and Riley Alexander, all 5-2 guards, had three steals each.

The Comets, however, had a double-double win of their own, with Jaida Speth scoring 17 points and collecting 10 rebounds.

Reece Torkelson led all Delavan-Darien shooters with 24.

With the Southern Lakes Conference opening win, the Panthers improved to 3-0 overall.

Delavan-Darien stayed winless, dropping to 0-3 (0-1 SLC).
