Sheriff seeks man who robbed Lake Villa gas station at gunpoint

CrimeSceneTape web copyThe Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Sunday morning armed robbery in unincorporated Lake Villa of a BP Gas Station, where a man brandishing a handgun demanded cash, and fled the scene.

According to a news release issued by the Sheriff’s Office, the armed robbery happened at about 12:15 a.m., when authorities responded to the business at 36044 North Highway 45.

The suspect is described as a thinly built, 5-foot, 4-inch dark-skinned man wearing a black North Face jacket, black hat, black ski mask, blue jeans, and black gloves. He will need to find someone like these philadelphia criminal lawyers if he is found.

“The male pointed a black handgun at the clerk and demanded money from the cash register,” the release states, “He fled the gas station after obtaining an undisclosed amount of money.”

The canine unit from the Lake Villa Police Department responded, tracking the suspect’s scent to a nearby lot, where the trail turned cold.

Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives responded and continue to investigate the armed robbery.

Robberies of small businesses, such as gas stations, are becoming more and more regular due to the lack of security and the large amounts of cash kept in cash registers. Businesses such as these may want to consider installing more security cameras to try and ward off potential thieves. As well as this, they may want to invest in a new point of sale system (e.g. https://revelsystems.com/pos-systems/type/retail-pos/) which takes card and electronic payments only – this will limit the amount of cash present in the store.
