Sheriff seeks man who robbed Lake Villa gas station at gunpoint
According to a news release issued by the Sheriff’s Office, the armed robbery happened at about 12:15 a.m., when authorities responded to the business at 36044 North Highway 45.
The suspect is described as a thinly built, 5-foot, 4-inch dark-skinned man wearing a black North Face jacket, black hat, black ski mask, blue jeans and black gloves.
“The male pointed a black handgun at the clerk and demanded money from the cash register,” the release states, “He fled the gas station after obtaining an undisclosed amount of money.”
The canine unit from the Lake Villa Police Department responded, tracking the suspect’s scent to a nearby lot, where the trail turned cold.
Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives responded and continue to investigate the armed robbery.
