SOFTBALL: Wilmot’s Platts verbally commits to Phoenix

Wilmot Union High School’s Montana Platts has verbally committed to play Division 1 softball at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

The current junior confirmed social media reports on Thursday night.

Platts, also a member of the Wisconsin Lightning club softball team, concluded a sophomore Panthers season highlighted by a 13-game hitting streak.

The 13-game hitting streak started April 25 at Elkhorn, where she drove in a season-high three runs in a 2-for-4 contest and concluded against Elkhorn on May 17, when she went 1-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored.

Through 27 games, Platts pounded out 33 hits in 89 at bats for a .371 batting average.

Platts accounted for 28 RBIs and scored 27 runs.

Of her 33 hits, five were for extra bases, including her first career home run against Muskego on May 2, when she hit 1 for 3 with two runs scored en route to a 15-0 victory.

Platts tallied 10 multi-hit games, including a May 3 Southern Lakes Conference showdown at Delavan-Darien, where she went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the Panthers’ 7-4 win.
