Antioch to host wizard-themed event

Antioch’s Wizard Weekend will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, in downtown Antioch.

Attendees will celebrate all things magical during the event. People can bring their wands, owls and dress up for this event. There will also be a magic school for kids ages 8 to 13, costume contests, a craft faire, chess tournament and scavenger hunt.

The costume contest will be at noon on Sunday, June 18. Pets may also be dressed in costume for a prize. Sign up for the costume contest will be before noon on Sunday, June 18.

Pre-registration is required for the school of magic and is $20 per person. The school will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 17.

People who would like to participate in the chess tournament must register their team of 16 people before the event. The cost is $10 per team and the tournaments will be on Saturday, June 17. Participants will receive a time for their chess match.

The scavenger hunt will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 18. Maps will be available at the craft faire. Completed entries must be turning into the Wizard Info Booth by 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 18. Winners will be announced on the Wizards of the Chamber Facebook page.

This event is free but certain parts of the event will cost money. This event is for all ages.
