K-9 Hunter to receive vest May 12

sponsoring a raffle ticket fundraiser to purchase a bulletproof vest, and for ongoing care, of the Spring Grove Police Department’s K9 Hunter.

Top prize is $1,000. Tickets are $10 each or three for $25. Drawing will be Saturday, May 12, at Fur the Love of Dogs, 2400 Highway St., Spring Grove. Events are slated from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be dog races (up to six Jack Russell’s) at 11:30 a.m. and also dog agility demonstrations, courtesy the Midwest Jack Russell Terrier Club. Each dog will be assigned a colored racing collar. Each dog in a given heat wears a different color. The racing judge will record the results of each heat by the color the terrier is wearing.

At 2 p.m. Hunter will receive his vest.

This is considered opening day in Spring Grove and that means a hat contest. Wear a funny or creative hat, get judged, and win a prize!

This is a family event and admission is free. All proceeds earned from this event will go toward the heath and maintenance of Hunter’s life along with the purchase of a bullet and stab resistant vest.

Raffle tickets can be purchased at Fur the Love of Dogs, 2400 Highview Street, Spring Grove, Call (815) 675-3877 for more information.
