JAMES EDMONDS

 

James Edmonds, 73, of Trevor, died May 1, 2012, at Aurora Memorial Hospital, Burlington. He was born May 26, 1938, to the late George and Alice (Francis) Edmonds.

Jim had lived in Burlington and Milwaukee before settling in Trevor in 1969.  He was a member of Grace Church, Burlington, as well as a P.T.A. and Trevor grade School board member. He was active with Cub Scout Pack No. 353 for 30 years, earning many scouting awards.

On Oct. 12, 1963, he married Mary Demers in Milwaukee. He was a school bus driver for 35 years, and had also worked at Burlington Mills, St. Charles Parish, and Quality Carriers for several years.  Jim enjoyed attending his children’s’ and grandchildren’s ball games and camping.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years; sons, Greg (Heidi) of Genoa City; Steve (Paige) of Richfield; Charles (Patti) of McFarland; Ronald (Renee) of Silver Lake; Patrick (Kim) of Salem and Donald (Katie) of Trevor; 16 grandchildren; and siblings, Wayne (Marion) of Arizona; Dale (Nan) of Texas; Ruth (Ed) Kettner of Garden Prairie, Ill., Roger (Tina) of Poplar Grove, Ill., and Gloria (Charles) Dutcher of Warren.

He was further preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Lesle and an infant sister, Joyce.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, Ill.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 7, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Liberty Cemetery, Salem.
