Burn ban until further notice

Extremely dry and dangerous conditions have prompted many communities in western Kenosha County to order a burning ban until further notice.

The  towns of Paris, Salem and Somers, and villages of Bristol, Pleasant Prairie and Twins Lakes had burning bans in place as of press time and more communities are expected to impose them.

No bonfires, or open fires of any kind including burning of trash is allowed. Cooking fires in a grill is allowed.

Residents are urged to be extremely vigilant at this time.

THE DNR has rated all of southern Wisconsin’s fire danger as “high,” dangerous conditions. A high rating is defined as “Fires start readily from a match or sparks, spread quickly, and spot readily. Difficult to control. Burning is not recommended.”
