Pleasant Prairie Triathlon takes place June 23 and 24; road closures planned

The Pleasant Prairie Triathlon will draw many visitors to the area during this weekend, June 23 and 24. The Pleasant Prairie Junior Triathlon will be held inside Prairie Springs Park on Saturday, June 23, with check in beginning at 7:00 a.m. Nearly 150 youth athletes are expected to participate. The Pleasant Prairie Triathlon will b held on Sunday, June 24 beginning at 6:30 a.m. More than 1,200 adult athletes are expected to compete. With additional numbers of spectators and volunteers, officials anticipate up to 3,200 visitors over both days. RecPlex and Prairie Springs Park will host the event.

On Sunday, June 24, to provide for the safety of all involved, surrounding roads will be closed for the race from 6:00 a.m.
until approximately 12:00 noon. Residents and businesses in the area of the road closures are asked to please plan ahead
for the closures. Roadways will be marked with the appropriate detours, and intersections throughout the course will be
monitored for a safe flow of race traffic. No parking will be allowed on roads that are part of the course. All pets that are
outdoors and adjacent to the race course should be leashed.
On Sunday, June 24 the following roads will be closed to through traffic: Highway 165 (104th Street) between 39th and
118th Avenues; Highway 31 (Green Bay Road) between Highway 50 (75th Street) and the Wisconsin/Illinois State line;
72nd Avenue and 108th Street between Highway 165 and Highway 31 (Green Bay Road); Highway ML (Springbrook
Road) from Highway 31 to 39th Avenue; 39th Avenue from Springbrook Road to 116th Street; 93rd Street between 39th
Avenue and Old Green Bay Road; Old Green Bay Road between 93rd and 104th Streets; Cooper Road between 85th and
93rd Streets; and Highway H (88th Avenue) between 95th and 104th Streets. Additional information and a map of the bike
course is available online at PleasantPrairieOnline.com. Please note that Highway 165 will close between 88th and 118th avenues beginning at 4:30 a.m.
