Burlington’s Aquaducks cancel shows until levels rise

A lack of rain has forced a popular summer group out of the entertainment business for the moment.

The Browns Lake Aquaducks announced Friday that its weekly Thursday shows are postponed until further notice because of low water levels on Browns Lake.

The group went forward with their normal show last week, taking acts out into deeper water by pontoon boat, but had some equipment damage as a result. The group decided that the Venetian Night show Saturday would be the last until the lake levels rose.

“It was something we could continue with,” said Aquaducks Vice President Jaci Bever about the pontoon option. “But the lake levels keep dropping.”

“But given we’re a not-for-profit team, it doesn’t make sense to keep risking it.”

She also said there was no way to predict when the group would be able to go back on the lake.

“We’re really crossing our fingers and doing rain dances,” said Bever.
