Monday afternoon Wheatland and Twin Lakes fire departments responded to a call of a tractor trailer smoldering on Highway 50. Upon arrival they discovered a trailer owned by Northwest Wood Products of Harvard, Ill., smoking. The tractor was disconnected from the trailer and water was pumped into the trailer.  Firefighters are on high alert as fires like this could easy start a massive grass fires. Motorists are asked not to toss smoking materials out of their windows. As clearly visible, the grass on the shoulders of the road are now tinder. (Photo by Annette Newcomb)
