Channeling Van Gogh

Writing to Vincent Van Gogh, sadly, is not an option. But getting recognition from the Oscar-nominated actor who played him is pretty exciting!  Lakewood School art students, who create Van Gogh-inspired “Starry Night” paintings in fifth grade, received an autographed photo from the legendary Kirk Douglas, who has “much admiration” for the young artists. He even wrote a message on a copy of a painting created by Lauren Pryor (now in 7th grade) exclaiming, “I couldn’t paint this better.” Douglas, now 95-years-old, famously played the renowned artist in the 1956 film “Lust for Life” and Lauren recreates the scene here.
