Kenosha/Racine Land Trust seeks grant for acquisition of land

The Kenosha/Racine Land Trust has applied for a 50 percent matching grant from the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program to assist with the purchase of 9.5 acres of land in the Village of Pleasant Prairie in Kenosha County.

The Des Plaines River traverses property form the northeast to the southwest. The property will be left in its natural state and will be open to the public for low impact recreational activities including hunting, fishing, trapping, hiking, cross-county skiing, snowshoeing and nature appreciation. Per Village of Pleasant Prairie ordinance, hunting on the property is permitted with shotgun or bow and arrow.

The department’s initial assessment of allowed Nature Based Outdoor Activities may be downloaded from the Stewardship Public Notice Web site or you may request a hard copy by contacting the project contact listed below.
