Operation RB seeks donations for alumni soldiers

Operation RB support is underway. Richmond-Burton High School serves as a collection point for items that will be sent in care packages to RB alumni serving in the military.

Operation RB, under the direction of Deb Wright, collects items for care packages as well as money to pay for the shipping.

Donated funds help send packages to RB alumni serving in sensitive areas such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

This is the 11th year for this community service project and RB is once again looking to its community to make it again successful.

Items that are most needed are foot powder (14 oz or less), antacids, nasal spray, eye drop, cold medicines (but no liquids), vitamins (100 count or less), anti-itch or antibiotic creams, pain relieves (Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, etc., 100 count or less), cotton swabs (70 count or smaller) and canned pasta or soup (28 ounces or less.)

Alumni who have received items in the past tell us that some of their favorites are Pringles, energy drinks and power bars, waterless shampoo, life savers/beef jerky, Chef Boyardee items and DVD’s.

Also needed are unscented baby wipes, stationary items, and hand sanitizers.

RB will be collecting items until Nov. 1.  Any items or monetary contributions can be dropped off at the high school in care of Deb Wright.  Her direct contact information is [email protected] or (815) 678-7552.
