Take a Lantern Tour of Green Ridge Cemetery this month

The Kenosha History Center, in cooperation with the Kenosha Cemetery Association and Friends of Green Ridge Cemetery, honors and celebrates Kenosha’s past each year through its Lantern Tours at Green Ridge Cemetery.

These guided tours will take the public this year through segments of the twilit cemetery on Tuesday, Oct. 9, Wednesday, Oct. 10 and Thursday, Oct. 11, starting at

7 p.m. Reservations and a fee of $5/person are required.

Tom Schlief, Executive Director of the Kenosha History Center, leads the tours to highlight the unique character of, and symbols found in, the cemetery’s tombstones and tell of the fascinating lives of

well-known and lesser-known Kenosha’s citizens who are buried there. The lantern-lit tours provide an

opportunity to experience the beauty, serenity and nature’s sounds of Green Ridge in an evening setting.

They are not presented to frighten people and space is limited.

To RSVP for tours of Oct. 9 or 10, call the Kenosha History Center at (262) 654-

5770.

The History Center will only take reservations for the Oct. 11 Lantern Tour during the Kenosha History Walk at Green Ridge Cemetery on 7th Avenue, near the corner of 66th Street. The History Walk takes place on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 1 to 4 p.m. A donation of $3/adult is

suggested to participate in it. Free admission to youth, ages 17 and under.
