Health care job fair set for Oct. 24

Seeking a job in health care? If so, make sure to attend Gateway Technical College’s Annual Health Care Job Fair, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 24, an event that offers many opportunities for applicants to connect with area employers seeking workers.

Whether you are just about to leave school or you are looking to change your career, there are a number of very good reasons to become a carer. A genuine interest in the welfare of others can get you started on the social care ladder as a care assistant. Many people start off by caring for a sick relative or close family member. Others will start as volunteers.

The job fair is to be held at the Madrigrano Auditorium, located in the Conference Center of Gateway Technical College’s Kenosha Campus, 3520-30th Ave.

Several Southeastern Wisconsin major health care providers and local health agencies will be at the event, as well as four-year colleges seeking Gateway graduates and others wishing to continue their education and earn a bachelor’s degree. The public is invited to attend.

The fair represents a way for students looking to land a job in the health care field to get solid leads and career guidance by talking directly to those who hire for their individual companies.
Aside from working in the healthcare industry, you could also work in aged care. The home care industry is full of genuinely caring individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of others. With an aging population, it’s also one of the best job sectors for establishing a long-term and rewarding career. Learning to deal with situations as they arise makes care workers adaptable and resourceful; your work experiences will provide you with transferable life skills that will benefit both your family and the wider community.

Caregiving careers are not only extremely rewarding. Many roles also include additional benefits that can help you improve your personal and professional life, as well as attract higher-quality recruiters. There are live-in care opportunities for those who want to work days or weeks at a time. You could try this if you need shorter hours, daily visits, or overnight stays. Whatever personal or family obligations you have, there are always hours available to accommodate your personal schedule.

Hence, you should make sure to bring cover letters and resumés–applications that will be accepted on-site by health care employers. The event is free.
