Petitions request parking be upped to four hours

One hundred sixty residents and non-residents want the two-hour parking limit on Main Street to be expanded to four hours.

That’s what petitions presented to members of the Twin Lakes Committee of the Whole said. Trustees received the petitions during the March 4 regular COW meeting.

Trustees discussed the request but were not convinced a change in the traditional two hour parking limit was needed.

Village administrator Jennifer Pollitt noted that two free municipal lots are located on the south side of Main Street, with unlimited parking time.

Twin Lakes Police Chief Dale Racer noted that he spoke to several businesses along the street and most confirmed their customer visits were less then two hours.

The village board will make the final decision during its Monday, March 18 meeting, but it is doubtful any changes will be made.
