Randall principal resigns due to ‘challanges, obstacles’

The Randall Grade School Board Principal Travis Lawrence has turned in his resignation, saying multiple challenges and obstacles have more it “vertically impossible to move forward.”

In his April 8 letter, presented to the school board, Lawrence announced his last day will be June 30.

In his resignation letter, Lawrence praised the students and staff.

“In the grand scheme of things, we have amazing students! We have an energetic and extremely hard working staff!”

He also wrote, “With all due respect and candor, I have observed many changes unfold over the past year that are pulling at the strings of our school community fabric.”

“The impact of some of these events has made it very difficult to come to work and do my job,” he contused, “which hurts my heart. Maintaining my focus on the real reason we are here (the students) has helped me through.

“Unfortunately, all of the challenges and obstacles along the way have made it virtually impossible for us to move forward. As a result of this, and the stress it has caused myself and my family, I have decided to submit my resignation effective July 1. 2013.”

The school board was scheduled to interview six candidates on May 14 and May 16 to replace Lawrence, who will be heading to the Hortonville District.

District administrator Steve Bloom said there were 33 applicants.

The school board screened the applications. “Each school board member gave me individual names and the field was narrowed down to eight,” Bloom explained.

“The 33 were narrowed down to eight and those were narrowed down to six. Those six will be interviewed this week.”

There may be two finalists by the end of the week or there may be one clear-cut candidate. Bloom said he wouldn’t know until the board has completed the interview process.
