A small package left by the front door of the BMO Harris Bank (formerly M&I Bank), 508 N. Lake Avenue, Twin Lakes, caused some tense moments Monday but in the end, turned out to be much ado about nothing.

Twin Lakes Police Chief Dale Racer said an employee of the bank called police at 10:02 a.m.

Twin Lakes Police blocked off the parking lot of the bank and called the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad responded.

The six employees of the bank evacuated the building and customers enjoying the greenhouse attached to Do It Best Hardware, were asked to go inside the store.

Once on scene, the Bomb Squad quickly deployed Andros F6B bomb disposal robot.

It took just a minute for the robot to cross the hardware store parking lot, navigate over the cement parking bumpers and approached the package. After probing the package, Andros delicately picked up it up and was able to open the package.

Chief Racer said the package contained personal papers and some religious artifacts. The TLPD is investigating the items and hope to trace it back to the source.

Officers on the scene were in agreement that it was “better to be safe then sorry,” and were happy with the outcome.

Anyone with information about this is urged to call the Twin Lakes Police Department or Crimestoppers at (800) 807-TIPS (8477). You can make the call and remain anonymous.
