Libertyfest is July 5, 6: Time to register for Baggo, cardboard boat races, parade

Libertyfest 2013 is two weeks away and if you haven’t registered for the cardboard boat races, entered the parade or signed up for the Baggo tournament, you’re already behind!

Friday night, July 5, the grounds at Lance Park open. There will be food court and sopping, Bingo hosted by the Genoa City Lions Club, children’s game; Relativity, classic rock band perform, and the Baggo tournament begins at 7 p.m.; teams or blind draw. The evening will close out with Blue Moon Mojo, a blues/rock band.

Saturday kicks off at 11 a.m. with the county’s largest Fourth of July parade, the Libertyfest Grand Parade. The grounds open at noon with the food court, shopping, children’s games.

Also on Saturday will be the Paw Fest and the cardboard board races.

Twin Lakes Idol competition will take place and the Aquanut Ski Teams will take to the water to perform one of their award-winning shows. The grand fireworks display will begin at dusk, followed by The Greg Brady Experience.

If you choose to participate as a vendor on Friday, July 5, set up will take place 2 to 4:30 p.m. with the grounds opening at 5 p.m. Set up for Saturday, July 6 will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. You must remain open until 7 p.m. both evenings. This is an outdoor event. The weather can be quite unpredictable so be prepared. Vendors can bring a canopy for shade. Canopies must be secured and cannot be staked into the blacktop.

Electric is limited and will be supplied on a first come first served basis. You must pre-register for electric. Vendor space is also limited and will be reserved on a first come first served basis. Space will only be reserved with a completed application and full payment.

If you would like to pay with credit card you may do so on the website www.twinlakeschamber.com/payments. Cost is $35 for a 10 x 10 booth. Vendors will have special parking available. A complete list of regulations appears on the website.

Registration for the cardboard boat races begins at 1:30 p.m. and races begin at 2 p.m. sharp.

Registration is $15; with a boat kit, $25. All boats will be inspected at check in. Boats must be made of cardboard; other materials may be used to decorate but may not contribute to the structure of the boat. Only two people per boat. Participants must provide their own personal floatation devices. You will not be allowed to race without one. Ages groups are 5 to 8; 9 to 12; 13 to 15; 16 to adult. Classes could be combined if there isn’t enough participants in one class.
