Libertyfest is Friday and Saturday

Forget the calendars, Libertyfest ushers in the official start of summer.

Friday night, July 5, the grounds at Lance Park open at 5 p.m. There will be food court and shopping, Bingo hosted by the Genoa City Lions Club, children’s game; Relativity, classic rock band perform from 5 to 7 p.m., and the Baggo tournament begins at 7 p.m. The evening will close out with Blue Moon Mojo, a blues/rock band, from 8 p.m. to midnight.

• Saturday kicks off at 11 a.m. with the Libertyfest Grand Parade. The grounds open at noon with the food court, shopping, children’s games.

Also on Saturday will be the Paw Fest at 1 p.m.  and the cardboard board races. You can register for the race from 1:30 to 1:50 p.m. sharp. Races begin at 2 p.m.

Genoa City Lions will hold Bingo at 1, 4 , 5  and 9 p.m.

Twin Lakes Idol competition will take place from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Local Talent will perform from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the Aquanut Ski Teams will take to the water to perform at 6 and 8:30 p.m.

Registration is $15; with a boat kit, $25. All boats will be inspected at check in. Boats must be made of cardboard; other materials may be used to decorate but may not contribute to the structure of the boat. Only two people per boat. Participants must provide their own personal floatation devices. You will not be allowed to race without one. Ages groups are 5 to 8; 9 to 12; 13 to 15; 16 to adult. Classes could be combined if there isn’t enough participants in one class.
