The Western Kenosha County Historical Society is holding a History Fair Open House in the History Hall and School House at Miller Park of Trevor, 25905 114th St. in Trevor, on Sunday, Oct. 6, from noon until 5 p.m.
This is a free, learn about those who lived here and what they did kind of event. Great for kids and adults alike.
Come learn about early history, featuring:
● Pastor Cliff Hathcock http://cbcsilverlake.org/ with a very nice media display;-
● A one-room schoolhouse with a teacher giving lessons throughout the day;
● Play a few games;
● Ice harvesting video showing how people cut and stacked ice on our many lakes;
● Blacksmithing by one of the local farriers;
● Farm tools and harness display when horses and oxen were the power;
● Traction engine and Hit or Miss engines presented by two excellent local teachers;
● Early fire truck and equipment presented by local fire fighters;
● Trevor stockyard display, which was an important business in the area;
● Taxidermy and surveying by two local professionals;
● Cooking and baking;
● Antique toy steam locomotive and antiques discussion by one of the premier local dealers, displays of local families and of local hamlets, communities and military;
● Quilt bed-turning and spinning.by two local artists;
● Classic cars with their dedicated owners.
Enjoy some old music (and maybe some dancing) by one of the local businesses. Enjoy some treats and learn about a variety of things and share what you know.
