On Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will coordinate the sixth National Pharmaceutical Take Back Initiative (NTBI VI).
The Twin Lakes Police Department, who is a partner and will participate in this take-back initiative on Saturday, Oct. 26. The Twin Lakes Police Department is one of four locations in Kenosha County that has a Medication Drop Box and is available 24/7, located in the lobby of the Police Department located at 920 Lance Drive in Twin Lakes.
Like the five previous collection efforts, NTBI VI is a collaborative effort with state and local law enforcement agencies focused on removing potentially dangerous pharmaceutical controlled substances from our nation’s medicine cabinets.
This one-day effort will continue to bring national focus to the issue of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse. This is a great opportunity for those who missed the previous events, or who have subsequently accumulated unwanted, unused prescription drugs, to safely dispose of those medications.
Controlled, non-controlled, and over-the-counter substances may be collected. The general public is often unaware of the distinction in medication status. Also included are pet medication, ointments, and creams. If residents want to get their medication in a different way, such as online to make sure they are getting the right prescriptions and at the right amount, they can check out websites such as https://www.blinkhealth.com/viagra, depending on what they need.
For Wisconsin participants, liquids will continue to be accepted during this initiative. However, the liquids must be in their original packaging and evenly distributed within the boxes of collected solid prescription medications.
No drums/containers of liquids without the original packaging will be accepted. Additionally, inhalers and needles/sharps will not be accepted.
