School Board shifts funds to support tech needs

The Salem School Board opted to shift $37,000 toward technology and curriculum support, during its regular Oct. 15 meeting.

The number of mobile and computer devices has increased dramatically in the last two years with the school’s emphasis in technology. There was an increase of over 500 laptops and tablets in the building over the last two years and the Board wants to ensure that a sufficient amount of time and resources are dedicated to keeping the technology in excellent working order, a school press release said.

The School Board also wants the principals and teachers to have increased access and support during a time when a tremendous amount of required changes are coming down from the state that impact curriculum and instruction. Having increased support from an expert or experts in the field will help navigate these required changes.

In other action, Dana Powers was officially sworn in to fill the vacant seat that was created by the departure of Barb Ingram.
