Saturday morning meeting called for Van Woods residents regarding water issues

The Village of Twin Lakes will join the Wisconsin Department of Natural

Resources Water Division in a meeting with Van Woods property owners regarding the water

main breaks in their subdivision.

Van Woods has a private water system operated by Van Woods Estates Water Works Inc. The

system currently has water main breaks causing low water pressure to Van Woods residents.

The DNR issued a Boil Water Notice as a precautionary measure to ensure proper water quality

for residents.

The DNR will be inviting Van Woods residents to the meeting to discuss the results of the

Enforcement Meeting to be held with Van Woods Water Works Inc. as well as share resources

regarding drilling private wells. The Village of Twin Lakes will also be on hand to discuss the

CDBG Housing Loan program offered to residents meeting income eligibility requirements.

WHERE: Twin Lakes Village Hall, 108 E Main Street

WHEN: Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 10am to 12noon

Panelists Include:

Marianna Sucht, DNR, Water Supply Specialist, Dept. representative for Van Woods Estates

community other-than-municipal water system. Marianna conducts sanitary surveys (well

inspections) at community water systems, and monitor results of their required Safe Drinking

Water Act sampling.

Sharon Gayan, DNR, Deputy Water Leader – Water District South. Sharon will help to

facilitate the meeting.

Steve Elmore, DNR, Public Water Supply Section Chief, Bureau of Drinking Water and

Groundwater. Steve will provide information on costs of operating the Van Woods water system

and costs of alternate water supplies.

Deb Roszak or TBD– DNR, Environmental Enforcement staff person to discuss DNR

enforcement procedures.

Jennifer Pollitt – Village of Twin Lakes Administrator, to discuss the Village’s role and also

provide any information about funding available to the homeowners if they choose to drill a

private well.
