Cure for cabin fever is at the Community Library

Unless otherwise noted, registration for all programs begins at 9 a.m.

Join the library for their “Blind Date with a Book” promotion in February and you might discover your next great read.

February “Read to Me” Photo Contest. Take a photo of you or your little ones reading with someone or something you love – a sibling, a pet, a grandparent or friend. Stop by the Youth Services Desk to pick up a copy of the contest rules. Photos will be printed and displayed in the library. Patrons will vote on favorites. One lucky winner will receive a Target Gift Card.

• Random Acts of Kindness Week: Feb. 10 to 16. We know you spread kindness every day, and this is your official invitation to go all out. The library will have drop-in crafts and activities at their Youth Services desks throughout the week.

• Storytime: Tuesdays, Feb. 18, 24615 89th Street, Salem. Thursdays, Feb. 6 and Feb. 20, 110 S. Lake Avenue, Twin Lakes, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Ages 2 to 5 with an adult. Registration required. Develop listening and language skills while enjoying books, storytelling, puppetry and crafts.

• Wee Read: Fridays, Feb. 14, 21, 28, 110 S. Lake Avenue, Twin Lakes, 10:30 to 1 a.m. Ages 0-2 years with an adult. Registration not required. Learn pre-reading skills the fun way. A lap sit program designed just for babies 0 to 2 years with plenty of activities including: stories, songs, bubbles, scarves and parachute play.

• Books and Boogie, Tuesdays, Feb. 25, 24615 89th Street, Salem. Thursdays, Feb. 13 and Feb. 27, 110 S. Lake Avenue, Twin Lakes, 10:30 to 1 a.m. Ages 2 to 5 years with an adult. Registration not required.

• Bounce on in for Books and Boogie. Play rhythm instruments, dance to music and hear lively tales.

• Pajama Storytime: Tuesday, Feb. 18, 24615 89th Street, Salem, 6:30 to 7 p.m. All ages. Registration not required. Grab your teddy bear and wear your pajamas for a fun evening of stories and songs. Bedtime snack provided.

• Silver Stories: Wednesdays, Feb. 5, Feb. 12, Feb. 19, Feb. 26 Silver Lake Village Hall: 113 S. First Street, Silver Lake. 10:30 to 11 a.m. Ages 2 to 5 with an adult. Registration required. Develop listening and language skills while enjoying books, storytelling, puppetry and crafts.

      • Sofia the First Party: Saturday, Feb. 22, 1 to 2 p.m. 24615 89th Street, Salem. Ages 2 to 6 with an adult. Registration required. Stories, songs and crafts will celebrate little Princess Sofia. Get your gown on and join the library.

• Ravenous Readers: Monday, Feb. 17, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., 24615 89th Street, Salem. Grades 4 to 8. Join the library for great reads, lively discussions and snacks. The first 10 students to sign up at the library receive a copy of the book to keep. Feb. 17th – “Apothecary” by Maile Meloy (11 AR Points)

• Kids’ Club: Wednesdays, Feb. 26, 1:30 to 4 p.m., 24615 89th Street, Salem. Ages 10 and up. Registration required. The Library will be hosting Kids’ Club on Salem Grade School early release Wednesdays. Kids’ Club involves crafts, games and movies.

• Rainbow Loom Bracelets: Saturday, Feb. 15, 1 to 2:30 p.m., 110 S. Lake Avenue, Twin Lakes. Grades 3 and up. New craft = new awesomeness on your wrist. The library will provide all the supplies plus snacks. Sign up with your best friend and double your fun.

• Home “Tweet” Home: Tuesday, Feb. 18, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., 110 S. Lake Avenue, Twin Lakes. Ages 5-12. Registration required. Create a decorative birdfeeder for a feathered friend, a “Home Sweet Home,” using various wood craft sticks and wood pieces.

• Google…Are You Being Found? Wednesday, Feb. 19, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Salem Meeting Room. Adults. Registration required. Use search engine optimization to let your small business be seen. Utilize Google Adwords along with Google Analytics to help your customers find your business online. This class will teach key searching tools to use in your Web site and social media sites to help funnel customers to your products and services. Learn keywords, search queries, proper Web site linking and more. Presented by Shane Fell and WWBIC.

• Wednesday Readers Book Discussion: Meets the third Wednesday of the month in the Twin Lakes Meeting Room, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Genealogy Networking: Thursday, Feb. 20, 2 to 3:30 p.m., Salem Conference Room. Registration not required. Join the monthly genealogy networking group to share your favorite tips and techniques.

• Lego Club, Saturday, Feb. 22, 110 S. Lake Avenue, Twin Lakes, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Ages 5 to 12. No registration required. The library will provide the Legos, while the kids provide the imagination. All materials must stay at the library, so bring a camera to capture your adventures. Leave your Legos at home so you don’t lose your favorite pieces.

• Non-Fiction Book Discussion: meets the fourth Tuesday of the month in the Salem Meeting Room, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

• No Sew Quilts: Tuesday, Feb. 25, 110 S. Lake Avenue, Twin Lakes, 5 to 7:30 p.m. Ages 13 to 18. Registration required. Learn the secret technique to making No Sew Quilts.
