A quartet of Antioch Waves swimmers anticipate the starter’s gun during the Waves first meet of the year at the Antioch Aqua Center, at the Antioch Aqua Center in Williams Park, 741 Main St., June 10. Temperatures in the 50s along with a steady drizzle throughout the entire event did not dampen spirits as the Waves won their first meet of the 2014 season over the Hastings Lake YMCA and the McGuire Aquatics Club. It took a combination of 22 first-year swimmers and 65 returning swimmers ranging in age from 5-18, to pull off the win. The Waves next compete June 17 in Belvidere and will have weekly meets through the 3rd week in July.
