Watlow seeks historic items for 100th anniversary

In 2014, the Watlow Electric Manufacturing Company site in Richmond, (formally the Claud S. Gordon Co.) will be celebrating its 100th year in business.

Although the Claud S. Gordon Company was purchased by Watlow in the mid-1980s, the business has remained intact from its founding in 1914 in Chicago.

To commemorate this significant milestone, Watlow team members and retirees will be invited to the celebration event onsite, set for early October.

At this time Watlow is reaching out to the community to solicit information to contribute to the celebration.

The following information is sought:

• historical information about the company;

• stories about how the company has impacted employees’ families;

• stories about working at the company and/or photos and artifacts related to Watlow.

Mail stories, photos and artifacts to Judi Derickson, 5710 Kenosha St., Richmond, IL 60071; (815) 678-1327 or email [email protected] or [email protected].

Items can also be dropped off at the address above. It is very important include your name and address if you want the items returned after the event.

Monday, Aug. 18 is the deadline to submit these items.
